FAQs -- Frequent Questions (and their answers)

What Do We Need On Our Website? -- You need a page where people can subscribe and unsubscribe.

How do we create that page? -- We do it for you and we host it for you -- Free!

Can anyone join our list? -- Yes, if they confirm their subscription.

What is Subscription Confirmation? -- Confirmation keeps your list clean and keeps bad addresses out. When someone subscribes to your list they are automatically emailed a confirmation request. When they reply to the request they are added. If they do nothing, they are not added.

Who can broadcast messages to the list? -- One or more individuals designated as 'administrators' will be able to distribute emails through the list. We recommend this number be kept to a minimum.

How much technical expertise do we need? -- None at all. Our lists can be used by anyone who can send an email.

How do we send a newsletter? There are several approaches. We recommend that you include in your email only a few sentences that capture your "headlines" and entice the reader. Send the reader a simple link that they can click on to download the newsletter in PDF format from your web site. That way nothing gets trapped because of a recipient's spam filters or firewalls that you cannot control.

Will we still have to send a hardcopy of our newsletter? Only to those who still want the hardcopy. At the beginning there will be some without email access and others who prefer hardcopy. But most organizations experience a significant immediate reduction in their printing needs. And those needs continue to reduce over time.

What types of email content can be sent to the list? Your message can be a traditional, plain text variety. It can also be composed of HTML code to make it attractive to read. Attachments get trapped by spam filters and firewalls. Whenever you want to send an attachment of any kind -- a photo, a voice file, a document -- you must send a link to it, rather than including the attachment in the email.
